11 February 2008 East Timor rebel leader Alfredo Reinado after being shot and killed during an assassination attempt on East Timor President Jose Ramos-Horta in Dili on 11 February 2008. Ramos-Horta was injured in the dawn gun battle at his residence on the outskirts of the capital of Dili which left Reinado dead, and the 58-year-old Nobel peace laureate was later flown to Australia for emergency treatment on bullet wounds.
