Lasama calls on PNTL to take mastermind to the courts Independente, June 29, 2011 language source: Tetun - The Parliamentary President Fernando Lasama de Araujo has called on the Timorese National Police (PNTL) to capture people who are believed to have been engaged in acts of crime in Quelicai, Samalari and Viqueque.

Lasama made the call because there are some illegal groups in the area who have slaughtered and stole the local residents' livestock, as well as committed a numbers of assaults. "It happens in six villages in Quelicai, including a village in Vatulari of Viqueque and Samalari of Baucau. The residents are calling on PNTL to set up permanent security posts in the area," Lasama said.

MP David Dais Ximenes said this problem happened because the national police have not carried out their work effectively to prevent them; therefore he called on PNTL to do their work more optimally in the future.
