355 Cases of HIV/AIDS in East Timor

ETLJB 09/03/2014 East Timor's National Commission for HIV/AIDS has reported that there are now 355 confirmed cases of HIV/AIDS in the country.

In response, the Deputy Prime Minister, Lasama Araujo, was reported by Suara Timor Lorosae on 28 January as saying that the Human Immune Deficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) the incidence of which is now as high as it has ever been in the country is not one family’s problem, but it is part of the country’s national issues.

“I invite all parties to be pro-active as this is not just a personal or one family's problem, but it is a national issue for the entire country. Therefore all parties’ contribution is necessary,” Deputy Prime Minister Fernando “Lasama” Araujo said.
