Petition to the House of Representatives on settling the maritime border with East Timor
Petition Of
Certain citizens of Australia
Petition Reason
This petition of certain citizens of Australia draws to the attention of the House the absence of an internationally recognised border between Australia and Timor-Leste.
Petition Request
We therefore ask the House to take all appropriate measures to assist the Government to finalise as soon as possible a fair and permanent maritime boundary between Australia and Timor-Leste, using median line principles, in accordance with current international law. We ask that this be done in good faith and as a matter of urgency.
THE GOOD NEWS is that we have just received the link for the online version of the petition.
Go to
http://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Petitions/House_of_Representatives_Petitions/Petitions_General/Petitions_List?id=EN0232 and if you haven't signed the paper version, please sign this.
The page will ask for your name and your email address.
You could put it out on social media. ...FaceBook and Twitter etc.
Send it to all your contacts!
This link will be live for four weeks only and the cut-off date is 28 June.
The paper petition can still be received until 30 July.
The UNGOOD NEWS is that we have received only 4,862 signatures to date. This is not as many as hoped for, so we do ask that you really push this online version, and continue to gather signatures on paper.
Mr Tony Burke MP will be presenting the Petition in Parliament, on a date to be advised.
Thanks to our sister, Susan Connelly, for keeping up the pressure and leading us through this unjust mess.
