Bishops for Baucau, Dili and Maliana Dioceses meet with PM Gusmao

Televizaun Timor-Leste, February 1, 2011 language source: Tetun - The Bishops for Baucau, Dili and Maliana Dioceses have met with Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao to share their opinions on the current situation in the country.

Monsignor Basilio do Nascimento said in the meeting they talked about the civil code which is important for the Government and the Catholic Church.

"We have discussed general issues and spoke about what the people of Timor-Leste are concerned about, such as the civil code and so forth," Monsignor Nascimento said.

Nascimento added that the recent case where a baby thrown away by his mother in Bairro Pite is a crime.

He also called on the Government to execute the general state budget in an efficient way to better develop the country in order to benefit the people of the country in the future.
