East Timor Legal News Source: Independente September 2, 2011 language source: Tetun - The numbers of women who assault men is high in the eastern district of Lautem, the report of findings by the State Secretariat of Gender Promotion and Equality (SEPI) said.
State Secretary for Gender Promotion and Equality Idelta Maria Rodrigues said she does not want to mention the numbers of domestic violence where women beat men, but SEPI's report findings shows that numbers of women who beat men is highest in Lautem District.
Manufahi District is in the second place, she said. She called on all the Timorese people to put hands together to resolve domestic violence in the country.
"I am calling on women friends not to resolve any case with violence as it will not help resolve the problem," she said.
