The peace rally was held last Friday in Lecidere of Dili.

The protestors were protesting the construction of a building on a parcel of land that is the centre of a dispute.

Speaking to journalists, a spokesperson for protestor Carolino Marques said they held the rally because the land is still being disputed.

A police officer said they should stop the rally because they were ordered to do so by his commander and the rally was illegal as the protestors have not yet contacted the police.
