Police detain five people

Timor Post, April 18, 2012 language source: Tetun - Viqueque District Police detained three people who were believed to have stoned at Special Unite Police (UEP) and patrol police after the vote counting in Viqueque, adding that the police also detained two people because they stoned cars.

“When UEP and Viqueque district police held patrols in Makadiki Village of Vatulari in Viqueque District on Sunday night, people stoned at our patrol police when vote counting was going on,” Timorese Operational Police Commander Superintendent Armando Monteiro said. Viqueque District Police Commander Superintendent Justinho Menezes affirmed that they detained two people who had threw stones, the incident injuring a prosecutor of the Human Rights and Justice Ombudsmen (PDHJ), because the assailants were not satisfied with the result of the district tabulation.
