Prime Minister appeals to Patriotism during the Commemoration of Restoration of Independence April 30, 2012

IV CONSTITUTIONAL GOVERNMENT SECRETARIAT OF STATE OF THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS PRESS RELEASE - On behalf of the IV Constitutional Government the Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao calls upon all Timorese to fly the National Flag of Timor-Leste at private homes and commercial buildings from the 1st to the 31st of May.
With this action the Government intends to involve all Timorese in the official celebrations of Independence, thus allowing them to actively participate in the festivities that will take place in Timor-Leste.
In May the country will be visited by several foreign dignitaries of friendly nations and by many individuals who worked for the national liberation cause. The Government wants everyone to be honorably received in the celebrations which will culminate on the tenth anniversary of the Restoration of Independence - May 20 - a historic date for all Timorese who fought for decades for a free, sovereign and independent Nation.
This act serves as testimony to the patriotism of the Timorese People, proud of the independence they achieved on May 20, 2002.
