Comoro village chief dissatisfied with courts' decision on land dispute

Radio Timor-Leste, January 7, 2011 language source: Tetun - Comoro village chief Eurico da Costa said he was dissatisfied with the Dili District decision which asked him to wait for a new appeal from the court regarding a land dispute case.

Da Costa made the comments after the first trial of the land dispute case involving him and Mario Viegas Carrascalao as the owner of the land.

Da Costa affirmed that he personally dissatisfied with the first trial because Carrascalao has changed his  legal advisor who has no knowledge about the issue. He added that the court was not fair, because it had not given him time to explain about his reasons for the case.

Legal Advisor for Carrascalao said Mr. Da Costa was not the owner of the land, but he was local authority; therefore he had no right to share land with other people.
