Parliament calls on Government to provide training to state institutions on domestic violence law

Radio Timor-Leste, January 14, 2011 language source: Tetun -Parliamentary Committee C for Economy and Finance has called on the Government to take the opportunity to provide training to the country's state institution for supporting the implementation of the domestic violence law.

According to the report, the State Secretariat of Promotion and Gender Equality wants to cooperate with  state institutions and civil society in order to get results in the implementation of the law.

The Committee C's report has also mentioned that a strategy and special fund are necessary for the implementation of the training on the law accountably.

Cooperation of all ministries and places are important to better attend and serve the victims.

The Parliamentary Committee C has reported that the Ministry of Health is responsible for safe houses for social protection for the victims of domestic violence based on the Article 15 which is outlined in the domestic violence law.

According to the report, the Ministry of Health is obliged to make justification  for the allocation of the budget the safe houses and better treatment to the victims in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity.

The Committee C has also reported that a reception center has been set up to receive domestic violence case and better cooperation with civil society.
