Justice Minister Lobato wants to resign from her post

Independente, March 13, 2012 language source: Tetun Justice Minister Lucia Lobato has asked for Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao’s permission to allow her resignation from the justice minister to testify in the court regarding her involvement in corruption.

Minister Lobato wanted to resign from her post and wanted to testify in court regarding corruption allegation, MP Maria Paixao from PSD Party said.

Minister Lobato asked to resign from her post so that she can appear in the court to testify, she said.

“Justice Minister Lobato herself asked Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao that she wanted to resign from her post in order to testify in court,” Paixao said.

The Parliamentary Committee I recently presented a proposal in the plenary asking for the Parliament to remove political immunity of Minister Lobato, but unfortunately MPs from Fretilin and CNRT rejected the proposal because it is unfair.
