Students calls on electoral law cancellation

Source: Independente March 7, 2012, Language Source: Tetun- Students have called on the Government and the National Election Commission (CNE) to cancel the electoral law which prohibits people from voting at anyplace.

MPs in the parliament are also concerned about this issue because many students will not be able to get access to transport to their districts.

Manuel Soares said the total electors were 626.503 yet the numbers of the people who would vote would not reach that number. He said that they were unhappy as they would not be able to vote in the presidential election.

”We feel unhappy because we will not attend the presidential election in the districts,” Soares said.
