CNE identifies electoral crime during the first presidential campaigns

Independente, March 2, 2012 language source: Tetun - The National Election Commission (CNE) President, Faustino Cardoso affirmed they had identified some electoral crimes during the political campaigns of Presidential Candidates, Taur Matan Ruak. “There are some violations that we identified, for example supporters of Presidential Candidate Taur Matan Ruak used statue Our Lady “Nosa Senhora” and carry it with them in a truck and also asked to vote for Taur and they also use big cross and the referred truck has no serial registration number,” Cardoso said. He said they had informed the Timorese National Police (PNTL) to take the necessary action but unfortunately they did nothing. In response, Taur Matan ruak had called on CNE to provide evidence which could prove that his supporters had committed electoral crime.
