Accreditation of higher education institutions - Government announces results of the evaluation
The Government announced today the results of the evaluation to 14 higher education institutions which have submitted the necessary documentation within the deadline, which ends December 31, 2007.
Seven met the requirements in order to achieve the initial institutional accreditation, five will have to meet a period of one of the proof, and the other two institutions saw its application for accreditation rejected.
The Government showed itself willing to support the students of these latter two institutions that want to transfer up to accredited institutions.UNTL (78.64%), DIT (92.88%), ICFP (100%), IN (79.49%), ISC (73.22%), ICR (100%) and ACTL (73.22% ) are higher education institutions that have achieved the accreditation, while UNPAZ (65.25%), UNDIL (58.98%), UNITAL (52.71%), CPI (66.10%) and AKAKOM (59, 83%) now have a year to achieve the full the criteria required.
UNIMAR (6.27%) and UCM (46.44%) saw the request for accreditation rejected.In the Press conference held at the Government Palace, the Secretary of State Council of Ministers, Agio Pereira, and the Minister of Education, Câncio Joao Freitas, publicly presented the findings in the report "Initial Licensing and Accreditation of Institutions of Higher Education in East Timor, "produced by the World Bank at the request of the Government.The external evaluation commission is composed of seven international elements from six countries and led by Dr. Marjorie Peace Lenn, World Bank consultant and president of the Center for Quality Assurance in International Education, based in Washington, DC.
The institutions that meet the criteria stipulated by 70 percent or more are accredited for a period of five years, during which they should improve the standards that were only partially satisfied and those who were not at all satisfied. The institutions that meet the criteria at a level between 50 and 69 percent are from now in a period of proof and if deficiencies are not corrected within one year of accreditation will be denied. In cases where the criteria are met by 49 percent or less the accreditation was rejected.

Acreditação das instituições de ensino superior - Governo anuncia resultados da avaliação
O Governo anunciou hoje os resultados da avaliação efectuada às 14 instituições de ensino superior que submeteram a documentação necessária dentro do prazo estipulado, ou seja, até 31 de Dezembro de 2007.
Sete cumpriram os requisitos de forma a conseguir a acreditação institucional inicial, cinco terão de cumprir um período de uma no de prova, e as restantes duas instituições viam o seu pedido de acreditação rejeitado.
O Gverno mostrou-se disponível para apoiar os alunos destas duas últimas instituições que o desejem a transferir-se para instituições acreditadas.UNTL (78,64%), DIT (92,88%), ICFP (100%), IN (79,49%), ISC (73,22%), ICR (100%) e ACTL (73,22%) são as instituições de ensino superior que conseguiram já a acreditação, enquanto UNPAZ (65,25%), UNDIL (58,98%), UNITAL (52,71%), IPC (66,10%) e AKAKOM (59,83%) têm agora um ano para atingir na plenitude os critérios exigidos.

Em conferência de Imprensa realizada no Palácio do Governo, o Secretário de Estado do Conselho de Ministros, Agio Pereira, e o Ministro da Educação, João Câncio Freitas, apresentaram publicamente os resultados que constam do relatório “Licenciamento e Acreditação Inicial de Instituições do Ensino Superior em Timor-Leste”, produzido pelo Banco Mundial a solicitação do Governo.
A comissão de avaliação externa internacional é composta por sete elementos provenientes de seis países e liderada pela Dra. Marjorie Peace Lenn, consultora do Banco Mundial e presidente do Centro de Garantia de Qualidade no Ensino Internacional, sediado em Washington, D.C.
As instituições que cumprem os critérios estipulados em 70 por cento ou mais são acreditadas por um período de cinco anos, durante o qual devem melhorar nos padrões que tenham sido apenas parcialmente satisfeitos e naqueles que não foram de todo satisfeitos. As instituições que cumprem os critérios a um nível entre 50 e 69 por cento ficam a partir de agora em período de prova e caso as deficiências não sejam corrigidas no prazo de um ano a acreditação será negada. Nos casos em que os critérios são cumpridos em 49 por cento ou menos a acreditação é rejeitada.
