Government prepares to resubmit the Program to the National Parliament, respecting democracy and stability

The Seventh Constitutional Government is restructuring the Program to submit it to the National Parliament, in accordance with the suggestions of the parliament members, after the opposition’s rejection of the Program presented on October 16. In this way, Prime Minister Mari Alkatiri guarantees that he will do everything to elevate the Nation to a level of development that was promised by the historical leaders, during the arduous years of struggle.

With the new Program, which will be presented together with the Rectification Budget, until the end of the year, the Government, once again, guarantees that it will do everything to ensure the People a more dignified future "in a more inclusive, just and prosperous Timor-Leste".

Given the maturity of the population, which, despite the situation experienced yesterday in Parliament, maintains their calm and peace, the Government assumes its commitment to manage the Executive in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic.

The approval of the motion of rejection of the Program by the three main opposition parties in the National Parliament represents yet another moment of growth for this young Nation, committed to respect the fundamental values of democracy and pluralism, which the Government serenely accepts. Timor-Leste has already earned international recognition with this position and, as far as the Government is concerned, it will remain so. ENDS
