The new President of the Court of Appeal began his judicial career in 2000 at Suai District Court, where he was president, and where he was until 2005.

In July 2007, he was placed in the Dili District Court.

Judge Guilhermino da Silva graduated in law in 1991 and took training courses at the Center for Judicial Studies in Lisbon in 2003-2004 and at the Legal Training Center in Dili in 2005-2006.

On Wednesday, Taur Matan Ruak announced in a statement that he accepted Claudio Ximenes' resignation request, presented on 10 October.

PR timorense nomeia juiz Guilhermino da Silva presidente do Tribunal de Recurso

O chefe de Estado timorense, Taur Matan Ruak, nomeou ontem o juiz Guilhermino da Silva para o cargo de presidente do Tribunal de Recurso de Timor-Leste, depois de ter aceitado na quarta-feira a demissão do juiz Cláudio Ximenes.

"A decisão do Presidente da República teve em consideração a antiguidade e experiência deste magistrado, que é juiz desde o tempo da Administração da UNTAET, exercendo, portanto, funções há 14 anos em tribunais nacionais", refere a Presidência timorense em comunicado divulgado à imprensa.

Segundo o comunicado, Guilhermino da Silva, juiz do Tribunal de Recurso desde outubro de 2011, toma posse na segunda-feira.

O novo presidente do Tribunal de Recurso iniciou a sua carreira de juiz em 2000, no Tribunal Distrital do Suai, do qual foi presidente, e onde esteve até 2005.

Em julho de 2007, foi colocado no Tribunal Distrital de Díli.

O juiz Guilhermino da Silva licenciou-se em Direito em 1991 e fez cursos de formação no Centro de Estudos Judiciários, em Lisboa, em 2003-2004, e no Centro de Formação Jurídica, em Díli, em 2005-2006.

Na quarta-feira, Taur Matan Ruak anunciou em comunicado ter aceitado o pedido de demissão de Cláudio Ximenes, apresentado no passado dia 10.
