Court of Appeal yet to receive appeal from Lucia Lobato Timor Post, July 3, 2012 language source: Tetun - The Court of Appeal has not yet received an appeal from the defendant Minister for Justice, Lucia Lobato, President of the Court of Appeals, Claudio Ximenes said.

There has been no appeal from Ms. Lucia Lobato since the court handed down the sentence for her, he said. "Up to now I do not know about appeal from Lucia Lobato. So far we have not yet received it," he said.

The Dili District sentenced Mr. Lobato for five years in prison, but her defence wanted to make an appeal before going to jail.

Five districts identified as potential security risk places during election Suara Timor Lorosa'e July 3 2012, Language source: Tetun - Deputy Commander for the Timorese National Police (PNTL) Commissioner of Police Afonso de Jesus said PNTL commands had identified five districts as potential security risks in the upcoming legislative election.

De Jesus said the five districts which had been identified were Viqueque, Baucau, Ermera, Covalima and Dili; therefore the police would provide tight security there before the day of election.

"We have identified those districts therefore we will provide maxim security to prevent problems," he said.

Dead body of F-FDTL member who committed suicide handed back to his family Diario Nacional, July 3, 2012 language source: Tetun - Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) Commander Superintendent Calisto Gonzaga has reported that the police had handed back the dead body of a Timorese Defence Force (F-FDTL) member to his family.

Commander Gonzaga said the soldier was believed to have commited suicide in Metinaro Training Center recently.

Gonzaga said the motive of the referred incident was unclear yet and it needed further analysis.

"The result of autopsy is confidential, this needs further examination," Gonzaga said.

Member of F-FDTL, Carlos da Costa Freitas, shot himself dead in the Metinaro training center. He was born in Baucau on June 14, 1974.

Judges should be brave to try Government officials: Borges Diario Nacional, July 3, 2012 language source: Tetun - The Parliamentary Committee A for Law and Constitution President Fernanda Borges has encouraged the judges to try  Government officials who were believed to have committed acts of crime.

She also called on the judges to interpret properly the concept of the political immunity and write official letters to the Parliament over the political immunity removal.

"We the Parliamentarians should carry out our duty, but the judges have the obligation not to be afraid of interpreting these concepts and the principles," Borges said.

Deputy Justice Minister Ivo Jorge Valente affirmed that political removal of the Parliamentary immunity was important to get adequate protection.

Digicel and TELIN receive official licence Diario Nacional, July 3, 2012 language source: Tetun - Minister for Infrastructure Pedro Lay has confirmed that the Timorese Government had officially provided official licensces for Digicel Pacific Limited and Telkomsel International from Indonesia (TELIN) to invest in the telecommunication sector in Timor-Leste.

"The result of the tender we held recently won by Digicel Pacific Limited (Digicel) a company from Ireland and Indonesian Telekom International (TELIN),"

"They will compete with Timor Telecom (TT) in the national market," Minister Lay said.

He said the Government had recently end the contract of TT not to monopolize the telecommunication in the country, adding that the Government implemented liberalization law in order to allow other telecom companies coming to invest and compete with TT.

CNE submits three cases to Public Prosecution Radio Timor-Leste, July 3, 2012 language source: Tetun - The National Election Commission (CNE) has submitted three electoral crime cases to the Public Prosecution for further legal process.

President of CNE Faustino Cardoso said the three cases were about the tearing of some political parties' flags.

Cardoso made the comments during the regular meeting with the political parties at CNE office yesterday.

He affirmed that CNE also received 14 electoral crime cases during the process of the political campaigns.
