Parliament delays passage of Draft Law on the Municipalities System

Timor Post, March 11, 2010 language source: Tetun - The Timorese Government has planned to set up a municipality system in the country and its law has been presented by the Government to the Parliament to be discussed and approved but the Parliament is yet to approve the law.

The Parliamentary President Fernando Lasama de Araujo said that the Parliament had not approved the law because there other more important laws that had to be discussed and approved first.

He added that the law will be discussed shortly because it has been included in the Parliamentary agenda to be discussed.

“The law on the municipality system has been included in the Parliamentary agenda and therefore the law will be discussed shortly, Mr. Lasama said.
