Timor Post, March 16, 2010 language source: Tetun - The Timorese Immigration Police Department Director, Inspector Boavida Ribeiro, has confirmed that many foreigners in the country had violated their tourist visas by engaging in prostitution.
Mr. Ribeiro also said that in February this year, the Immigration Department screened 38 immigrants from Indonesia, China, Thailand and Vietnam from which five were deported.
“We deported five of these 38 people back to their country of origin due to violations of their visa status,” he added.
Mr. Ribeiro said that his department will launch an operation into those places that are believed to be used as brothels.
