Timor Post, April 15, 2010 language source: Tetun - MP Estanislau da Silva from Fretilin has called on the Public Prosecution to end the existence of the splinter Fretilin Movement in the county because he considers Fretilin Movement as an illegal political group.

“Based on the law that they are not allowed to use Fretilin attributes as they are not the members of Fretilin anymore,” da Silva said.

He hopped that the Public Prosecution to speed up the process to disband this illegal group as soon as possible.

“We hoped that Public Prosecution can accelerate the process to end Fretilin Movement in the country as soon as possible,” da Silva said.

Meanwhile, the National Commission for Election (CNE) President, Faustino Cardoso, has said that CNE has no power to end Fretilin Movement in the country as it is the competence of the Public Prosecution to do so.

“Only Public Prosecution has the power to make decision on this case. CNE has reported to Public Prosecution about this case and they will make decision after a proper investigation of the case,” Cardoso said.

Cardoso also considered Fretilin Movement is illegal group as they had not registered both at the court and CNE.
