PSD will abandon AMP if PM Gusmao expels Minister da Costa without clear reason

Radio & Televizaun Timor-Leste, April 13, 2010 language source: Tetun - The Chief of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) bench in the Parliament, MP Riak Leman has said that his party will abandon coalition party “AMP” if the Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao will expel the for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Zacarias Albano da Costa without clear reason.

“We have cooperated with the coalition party for many years but if Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao expels him as Minister for Foreign Affairs then we will abandon the coalition party,” MP Riak Leman said.

MP Riak Leman made the comment yesterday in the Parliamentary plenary session, because there had a polemic appear where the Timorese Foreign Affairs Minister da Costa had sent a Short Message Service to Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao about his resignation.

MP Riak Leman also called on the Minister da Costa no to tender his resignation letter otherwise people will consider PSD will destroy the coalition party.

He added, “I though no need for Minister da Costa to tender his resignation letter and let the PM Gusmao expel him.”

Minister for Foreign Affairs Zacarias Albano da Costa is now undertaking his work as usual although many people had concerned about his post due to the SMS he sent to the PM Gusmao.

Meanwhile MP Pedro da Costa Martires has said that this polemic appeared due to lack of coordination between the Government’s officials.

“This problem appeared due to lack of coordination between the Government officials, but I think this will not affect on the alliance parties,” MP Mártires said.
