New Party in East Timor: National Development Party

CNE: PDN is not a party yet Televizaun Timor-Leste, April 1, 2010 language source: Tetun - Though the National Development Party (PDN) has been campaigning for the coming elections, the President of National Electoral Commission Faustino Cardoso said that PDN is not a party yet.

“No documents have been presented to us about the existence of the PDN,” said Cardoso.

Asked whether it has taken any legal measures against the Fretilin Movement that has been campaigning with the attributes and insignias of Fretilin party, he said that the commission has transferred the case to the office of public prosecution for investigation.

According to Law 3/2004 on political parties, there are 16 parties that are legally registered with the Electoral Commission.
