PM Gusmao agrees with President Horta to postpone municipality elections

Diario Nacionál, April 23, 2010 language source: Tetun - Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao has said the he totally supports President Jose Ramos Horta'sproposal to postpone election for the municipality system in the thirteen districts until 2013.

PM Gusmao said that this postponement will give the Government the opportunity to better improve the country’s infrastructure and human resources.

“We have not prepared human resources completely as there is lack of human resources and infrastructure and therefore I am pleased with this postponement of the municipality election to 2014,” PM Gusmão said.

He added, “The Government should not hurry to implement the municipality system since there is insufficient support for its implementation.”

Meanwhile, Lospalos Sub-District Administrator, Domingos dos Santos Sequeira, has said that it was important for the Government to better prepare human resources for the municipality elections.
